Amidst the hardship of long term healing, Art continues to be a tremendous blessing.
Did you know that I wasn’t an Artist before the accident that changed my life?
The following quote from Dr Darold Treffert is an excerpt from an article (linked below) featuring my story along with a discussion of Acquired Savantism:
"Thompson is an 'acquired savant,' whose remarkable experience can help shed light on the roots of human creativity. These are ordinary people who have a head injury — typically on the left side of the brain — or stroke, or some other central nervous system incident, and all of a sudden, they have musical or artistic abilities, sometimes at the prodigious level." - Dr. Darold Treffert, MD
Dr Treffert has since passed, but his legacy lives on in the lives he transformed - including mine. He was the worldwide authority on savants, and I feel blessed to have known him.
